Felt/Fabric Simplicity Doll Pattern 8402

Sometime this summer, Joann Fabrics had a pattern sale and I grabbed some Simplicity patterns at $1 each which is super cheap! At full-price who pays that amount, seriously? My granddaughter loves dollies of all sorts and I decided to make her something that can't be found in a store. I felt the directions/instructions were lacking in details and there are no finishing directions at all so once again, I did my own thing to reinforce seams at arms and legs as they will see the most use. The neck area was really tight to work around so next time I think I'll make the selvage a bit wider when cutting out again. When making the pigtails, you have to glue the center (before tying the strips of yarn closed and securing) area with some Elmers in order to keep the yarn from being pulled out when a little one picks her up by the hair. You may need to add more after securing to the doll's head. I also had to use a tiny bit of hot glue to tack each pigtail back off the face. It

Patriotic Paper Plate Flag Kid's Craft

Just about every week my grandchildren come over and have art lessons/crafting time with me. It's something we enjoy doing together and it helps build their confidence to be creative! It doesn't have to be perfect and it's fun to learn new ways to be creative. Since this is Memorial Day weekend, I thought a patriotic craft was in order and this is what I came up with today. The kids will make them tomorrow since they were not able to fit into their schedule earlier in the week. Supplies are as follows below. Don't fret if you don't have exactly what I used. Be creative and use what you have on hand if possible. :) Acrylic paint in red and blue or use makers or crayons. Six inch paper plate or cut out a white circle from cardstock. Walmart is where I purchase mine for everyday use. It is sold in the reams of paper isle. Petal pattern. It measures 1-1/2" x 4 inches long. Cardstock in red, blue and white for the petals. Glue dots, sticks or Elmers glue will work.

Some of My Salt Dough Projects

Here are some salt dough and various other projects I've done over the years. Salt dough is very soft and cut perfectly with cookie cutters. Be sure to remember to make a hole, for hanging, in dough before drying in the overn or dehydrator. There are many recipes that are free and listing online. You can find many when doing a search on Pinterest. If you seal them after they are dried and painted, they will last for years! This is also a great crafting medium for kids.
