My granddaughter wanted a mermaid for her birthday this April (last year was her stuffed crocheted unicorn) so I made her one from The Friendly Fox which is a free pattern. The yarn used for her hair is from Hobby Lobby in Yarn Bee First Love in turquoise. I'd never used this yarn before, but I have to say it is perfect for doll hair making. It is super soft, lays so nicely and takes a beating from little people.

I made the eyes from DMC floss as the safety eyes didn't seem safe enough for me to use with a child under 3 years of age. Plus, the thread looks super cute also!
